Morrissey - Morrissey Menezes Tribute

British songwriting icon Morrissey has paid tribute to police shooting victim Jean Charles De Menezes during a show in London last night (July 22nd).

The case of Jean Charles De Menezes has become one of the most hotly debated topics in British life. Four years ago London was hit by a series of terrorist attacks on 7/7, sending police into a state of armed alert.

Born in Brazil, Jean Charles De Menezes had come to Britain to seek a new life. Boarding the underground shortly after the attacks he was mistakenly shot by anti-terrorist police at the Stockwell...

Arctic Monkeys - Arctic Monkeys - Crying Lightning

So, as probably the only person on the planet to not think the Arctic Monkeys were the best thing since sliced bread as soon as they released their debut and its follow up, perhaps Im not the best person to be reviewing this single. Setting aside all prejudice and preconception though, it aint half bad. And that from the 'pen of a cynic! It must be good.

Scuzzy bassline, spidery guitars, propulsive drums, dialect-inflected vocals, and a crescendo instead of a chorus... like the bastard lovechild of The Fall, The Pixies and Link Wray, Crying Lightning is simply so far beyond...
