Incubus - Incubus - If Not Now, When? Incubus used to be a rock band, right? You wouldn’t know it from listening to them these days. Seventh studio opus If Not Now, When? is a sedate, pristinely produced offering, closer in spirit to the U2s and Coldplays of ‘alternative’ music than their early heavy-riffing counterparts. Not a crime, of course, if it’s done with intelligence, killer melodic know-how and some kind of tangible emotion, but Incubus don’t manage any of these with their latest offering. Subsequently we fully expect reactions to it to vary from peeved and disillusioned (fans) to passed-out in a coma (the... Taking Back Sunday - Taking Back Sunday - Faith (Wh... 'Faith (When I Let You Down)' is the latest single from Taking Back Sunday and comes from their forthcoming self-titled album. The song has a more upbeat feel than most of their previous songs and the renewed energy really suits them. Though lyrically not straying too far away from their usual offerings, with a hint of the dark, this single adds a twist to the type of material that was on their first album. The song is catchy, punchy and memorable and should see the band being noticed by a wider audience. The second track on the CD is 'El Paso',... My Chemical Romance - My Chemical Romance - Life On The Murder Scene (2006) Never before has such a comprehensive package been released by a band with only two albums to their name. Life on the Murder Scene is a live CD and two DVDs, including a video diary and a barrage of live performances from every venue imaginable. The diary is the key to it all, showing My Chemical Romance grow from fledgling New Jersey based punks to goth superheroes. The connecting thread throughout the video - and the thread that holds the band itself together – is their absolute belief in their cause. MCR don't think their important, they know it.... Arctic Monkeys - Arctic Monkeys - Brick By Brick Four days ago, the indie world was sent into frenzy as the Arctic Monkeys released a seemingly finished new song on their website, with a vintage 1970s video to accompany the surprise track. The frenzy wasn't perhaps on the scale generated by Radiohead's shock album release 'The King of Limbs' but the song's ambiguity (Is it a single? is it a B side? An album track? An improvised jam?) certainly drew much debate from their fan base and the rest of the music community. Whatever it is, it is clear that Alex Turner, the formerly gritty street poet, and his young... Pj Harvey - PJ Harvey - Let England Shake The title of Polly Harvey’s seventh album, 2007’s White Chalk, seemed to address England’s psycho-geography by way of Dover’s iconic coastline. Perhaps that’s projection. But her eighth most definitely does. It’s a concept album, folks. Songtitles include The Last Living Rose, England and The Glorious Land, with a distinct whiff of landscape and legend. A fragile Hanging in the Wire even namechecks "the white hills of Dover". Pete Doherty doesn’t have a copyright on singing about Albion, you know. Going by her latest photos, Harvey’s position as the alternative Lady Gaga, confounding expectations and changing hair styles at... As I Lay Dying - Interview with Tim Lambesis As I Lay Dying are one of those bands that simply get better with age instead of being crippled by it with each album being better than the last. Metal underground finally got the opportunity to talk to Tim Lambesis about juggling two bands, his opinions of Arnold as governor and which band he dreams of touring with. Matt Dasher: It seems that with the change in sound on that last two As I Lay Dying albums as well as your work in Austrian Death Machine that you're going through a creative peak. Was there any particular catalyst for this? Matt: Out... Arctic Monkeys - Arctic Monkeys Recording Sessions New photos have emerged of Arctic Monkeys working in the studio with James Ford. One of the biggest bands in the country, every step Arctic Monkeys make is watched by millions of fans. Returning to the recording studio, the Sheffield band have sparked furious speculation. Released in 2009, 'Humbug' was an artistic success driven by recent project Last Shadow Puppets. Writing sessions for a potential follow up have been ongoing, with the band recording in Los Angeles. Working with James Ford, Arctic Monkeys have re-united with the SMD producer. 'Humbug' was recorded with Josh Homme, so it seems that the Sheffield... Excerpt from:As I Lay Dying Post New Video ...PJ Harvey - PJ Harvey Talks 'Let England Shake' PJ Harvey has spoken about the gestation of her upcoming album 'Let England Shake'. One of the most consistently challenging songwriters of her generation, PJ Harvey has been through many artistic shake ups. From the guttural moan of 'Cut' to the seductive purr of 'Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea' she has never failed to surprise. Returning with her new album 'Let England Shake' the singer has opted to a light vocal tone. However the songwriting is darker than ever, with often stark images of warfare fuelling the album. Speaking to Pitchfork, PJ Harvey seemed to hope that... |
