AFI is one of those really important bands in the music scene today. Much like elder statesmen like Alkaline Trio and Rancid, AFI have worked in the trenches for what seems like decades (and in many cases really are decades) to get to the top of their game, earn a legion of rabid fans and sometimes earn some mainstream success. With the release of their breakthrough album, Sing the Sorrow, in 2003, AFI finally received some mainstream success and their particular brand of goth rock was starting a movement on young fans.
