While I’m not sure this song would escape a protest from politically correct groups if it were released today but “Walk Like an Egyptian” became a phenomenon when it was released in 1986. The song quickly shot to #1 and The Bangles had a certified hit from their album Different Light which also featured the very popular song “Manic Monday.”

Apparently the song was written after Liam Sternberg spotted some people walking awkwardly on a ferry. I’m not entirely sure how off-balance people could look Egyptian but I wasn’t there and I’m just going to go with...
