Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch has issued a statement updating fans on his cancer treatment.

The rapper, also known as MCA, was diagnosed with cancer of the preaortic gland and lymph node last month, causing the release of new album 'Hot Sauce Committee' to be delayed. Yauch has sent an email to fans who signed up at their website, updating them on his treatment and progress.

He wrote: "I'm about a week-and-a-half out of surgery now and rapidly recovering from it. I haven't taken any of the pain meds, which supposedly speeds along the healing process, or should I say, taking them slows...
