Pop icon Michael Jackson died following a one hour attempt by a team of emergency physicians and cardiologists to save his life.

Michael Jackson had been preparing for his upcoming O2 Arena residency when the alarm was raised from the singer's home. In a statement released by Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, the star was found at his home in Los Angeles.

The pop star was taken to the hospital after suffering what is thought to be a cardiac arrest, with Jackson being declared dead at 2.26pm PST after repeated attempts to save his life.
