George Harrison has been given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The late Beatles guitarist - who died of lung cancer in 2001, aged 58 - was posthumously awarded the honour in a star-studded ceremony held outside the Capitol Records tower, where the plaque is situated, in Los Angeles yesterday (14.04.09).

Fellow Beatle Sir Paul McCartney, 'Monty Python' actor Eric Idle, actor Tom Hanks and more than 1,000 fans turned out to see the unveiling of the star.

Idle described Harrison as a "remarkable person", but insisted he would not have been impressed with the tribute.
