London indie stars The Rakes have clashed with electro star Lady Gaga, saying she dresses like an "ugly prostitute".

The Rakes emerged from the same Whitechapel indie punk scene that spawned the Libertines. With some sharp tunes and tasty fashion sense the group soon became hot property, sparking a bidding war which V2 eventually won.

Debut album 'Capture / Release' was an acclaimed Top 40 hit, containing the singles '22 Grand Job' amongst others. The group's second album 'Ten New Messages' was a further blast of disillusioned rock, but the sense that The Rakes were merely treading water was beginning to set...
