Memories of discomfort thanks to the title aside, the latest from McCombs' 'Drop The Writ' long-player finds him in good form. Less melancholic than some of his previous, and no doubt future, outings, the song bounces along with its kick drum-led rhythm, moving from a proggy-sounding intro into a melodic poppy track that will make goodness ooze from the ears of the Peter Bjorn and John/Belle and Sebastian camp.
Never shy of advertising the rock 'n' roll sentiments that fuel his sound, there is enough "ba ba" backing vocals to lure in anyone not enticed by the Lou Reed style cool...
