The Young Marble Giants' scant oeuvre has been reissued many times, in many different forms since the band called it quits in 1980. But this latest release from Domino, the three-disc Collected Works, should put an end to that trend. It's absolutely definitive, gathering the Cardiff-based band's lone LP Colossal Youth, all of their EPs and singles, their John Peel session and various demos and outtakes. Collected Works is indeed every note the short-lived group ever put down on tape. The packaging is lovely and the liner notes are informative and entertaining. Are Young Marble Giants worthy of such lavish attention?...
