Death Cab For Cutie are a band enjoying a surge in popularity that, after 11 years, must have them scratching their heads in disbelief. 'No Sunlight' is the latest single from the Washington band, and is an eloquent explanation of their newfound status. A short, sleek example of polished pop-rock, 'No Sunlight' is filled with catchy guitar riffs, bright piano and the honeyed tones of Benjamin Gibbard.
One small gripe would be the intense production. Not a note sounds anything less than painstakingly arranged, which at times can sound a little sterile, a la Jimmy Eat World. Generally though, it works...
