The choice of 'Rather Be' as the second single from 'Forth' is understandable, but at the same time, little underwhelming.
'Love Is Noise' was a powerful little beast, so it was to be expected that next up would be something a little more muted. It is also not a surprise, given his solo efforts, that Ashcroft would take the chance to step to the fore. Unfortunately, on the whole, 'Rather Be' is a little disappointing. Despite Nick McCabe's dependably excellent guitar work, and some sweet string accompaniment, the tune limps rather than swaggers, lacking any real drive.
