Ra Ra Riot are pure American indie-rock; it’s a combination of the orchestral elegance of Arcade Fire and the skittish preppie tones of Vampire Weekend, appropriate for a band who formed in 2006 around the Syracuse University campus in New York. That makes it sound pretty good, which it is, but at the same time it’s a bit too associated with those other bands to cut new trails.
