The First Crusade sounds surprisingly similar to a Dogs album, the same rock guitars, the off kilter drums and almost spoken vocals are all present. Jakobinarina however manage to bring something slightly different to the table than just a standard suburbs rock band. Firstly the band are from Iceland, best known for classical music and gothic rock of silly proportions. In comparison to these two musical spectrums, the album is understated and straight forward in its use of structure and presentation, it is however very representative of the stifling and one dimensional nature of suburbs across the western world.
