Yes it's bouncy, and yes, it's upbeat, but having listened to other recordings by The Chap, 'Proper Rock' should not be their flagship single. For one thing, unless you like Queen, the 'Bohemian Rhapsody' style choral falsettos are really rather annoying. In all honestly, it's hard to tell whether they are exercising high levels of irony by mocking the music scene with their oh so clever lyrics, or whether they really do have that irritating over-exaggerated accent employed by the likes of Kate Nash.
Its only saving grace is a possible nod to the stylings of The Sensational Alex Harvey band,...
