Review: Beck - Beck : Modern Guilt

Modern Guilt is nothing to write home about, but I appreciate its honesty; somehow it feels more sincere than Beck's last album, The Information. Lyrically, this album is multi-faceted and interesting. Musically, however, it's a bit of a disappointment.

The album starts out slow "Orphans", the opener, is all right, but it's certainly no "Devil's Haircut" or "Sexx Laws" then again, this album is certainly no Odelay or Midnite Vultures. "Gamma Ray" is more upbeat, with interesting lyrics but a dull and boring chorus. Oh, but what's this? It's time to play "Spot the Beck Motifs"! Number one: "refugee."...
