When hearing the word bella its nigh on impossible not to envisage libidinous Tuscan waiters trying it on with lonely divorcees from Rotherham after a good night on the vino on holiday . Well, it is to me anyway. On the evidence of their first album for underrated local label Mint Records, its unlikely that the Vancouver-based three-piece of the same name are going to do anything to alter this. Looking like an even more humourless Ladytron, albeit with one less bloke, Bella make synthy indie-pop a la compatriots Pony Up, with just the faintest whiff of now ubiquitous new wave...
