When one band fractures, side-groups, solo outings and the occasional vanity project emerge anew, usually with middling success; for every Sebadoh or Crooked Fingers, there's a dozen Kelley Deal 6000s waiting in the wings. When Brainiac's Timmy Taylor was killed in a car wreck in 1997, guitarist and co-founder John Schmersal relocated to Brooklyn to form Enon, which, to some ears, sounds like a riff on his previous band. Believo! the band's first (and to these ears, best) record, takes what Schmersal and Taylor did with Brainiac create incredible rhythms and energy out of squawking noise and condenses it....
