First listen it's easy to mistake The Western Lands as a pretty disposable knock-off of sombre post-rock names like Slint, Flying Saucer Attack, Hood, MBV, early Chemikal Underground, and so on. Except then these songs start to linger in your memory like the grisly deaths of beloved family pets and you find yourself digging it out again and soon you're lost like wandering orphans in its brambly, rural melancholy....
