Although they were never the most critically or commercially successful band of the post-punk movement, you could make the the argument that when Young Marble Giants released "Colossal Youth" in 1980, they came the closest to achieve the movement's goals of re-configuring music in a way that was new and that had nothing to do with the conventions of rock and roll.
