In the first of a pair of items regarding keyboardist Derek Sherinian (Black Country Communion, Dream Theater, Yngwie Malmsteen), we learned, via a Blabbermouth.net posting, that he had just spent three days in the studio with drummer Simon Philips (The Who, Toto) writing material for Derek's upcoming seventh solo record, to be released this summer. Sherinian and Phillips first collaborated on Derek's Inertia record in 2001.
