EPICA News: EPICA, Ex-AFTER FOREVER Members Launch MAYAN, Sign With NUCLEAR BLAST

The following update has been posted on the official web site of the Dutch symphonic metal band EPICA:

"Although EPICA has been touring around the world for months, [guitarist/songwriter] Mark [Jansen] found the time to put another band together, which he takes very seriously: MAYAN.

"Mark founded MAYAN together with Jack Driessen (ex-AFTER FOREVER) and Frank Schiphorst, [and] named [the band] after the wise and rich Mayan culture.

"The release of the [debut MAYAN] album will take place around May 2011 and the CD presentation will [be held] at Paradiso [in] Amsterdam!

"[MAYAN's] music is a mixture of death, black and progressive metal combined...
