The German city of Hamburg is set to honour its connection with The Beatles via a series of special events.

The Beatles were just another unknown rock 'n' roll group from Liverpool when they first travelled to Hamburg. Booked to play a run down club in the city's Reeperbahn district, the pre-fame Fab Four came of age with a lengthy series of performances.

Often playing several times per night, The Beatles honed their craft over a series of German trips. Finalising their line up, the band also discovered the unusual Mop-top haircut via the city's underground scene.
