I really dig Mellowdrone and from what I’ve read so do tv and video game music directors. They remind me of the good rock bands from the 90s and the lo-fi indie rock bands of the present. Their bass tone has just the right overdrive to keep me interested, the clang in the guitars has that perfect “alternative rock” edge. The lead vocals remind me of Jesus & Mary Chain, Queens of the Stone Age and Failure, but sometimes like U2. Most of the time the lead singer, Jonathan Bates, sounds like Steve Kilbey of the Church.
